Introduction

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB) is an independent agency of the Ministry of the Attorney General. It is established under the Compensation for Victims of Crime Act.

The role of the Board is to award financial compensation to victims of violent crimes committed in the Province of Ontario.

Board Members are appointed by Orders in Council. They have special training and expertise in their different fields of work that help them to make fair and unbiased decisions about applications to the Board.

Appointments to the Board are intended to reflect the diversity of Ontario’s population.
