Awards For Minor Children Directed to The Accountant of The Superior Court of Justice

It is the Board's practice to direct that awards for Minor Children be held in trust by the Accountant of the Superior Court of Justice until the Minor Child turns 18 years of age or until some other conditions are met.

When the Board's award is ready to be paid to the Minor Child, the Accountant of the Superior Court of Justice will send a letter by mail to the Minor Child at their last known address.

It is very important that the Accountant of the Superior Court of Justice be told about any change to the address of the Minor Child. The Minor Child may not receive payment of the Board's award if the Accountant of the Superior Court is not given their current contact information.

Please note that it is the Applicant's responsibility to tell the Accountant of the Superior Court of Justice of any change in address for the Minor Child, as the Board does not do so.

When the Minor Child receives the letter from the Accountant of the Superior Court, they will also be required to complete some documents. Instructions on how to complete the documents will be included in the package. The Minor Child will receive payment of the Board's award when all of the required documents are completed and returned to the Accountant of the Superior Court of Justice.
